This is the first installment of what I hope will be a bunch of stories describing the War in the Pacific. I'm American so most of the stories will be from the American point of view. If you are a veteran of any of the battles described (from any side) I'd love to get your story.

Anna begins adjusting to a new role as a single parent when she learns of a tragic vehicular crash that leaves a ten-year-old girl without her mother and brother. The child is assigned to her classroom in the fall and Anna becomes deeply involved in helping her adjust.
A uncanny sort of buyers finally find an item they had been looking for in a shady shop. They're not actually looking to buy though, and the business goes awry for the proprietor. When the orbital's law enforcement arrives to investigate, their true intentions become apparent.
