I had an interesting complaint about the story a few days ago. “It's real hard to get to interested in a mediocre middle school kid.” Considering the first few chapters, Grim is fairly average, but I don’t think that is going to last much longer. My current character is somebody who I think all of us can recognize. I thought it was time to write about somebody believable. If that doesn’t interest you, sorry about that. Delete me from your library.
Grim is still growing up and making the usual mistakes we all did at that age. I think we can all remember back to those days. Enjoy!
Grim is now growing up. Strangely enough, girls aren’t so yucky any longer. Who’d have guessed? Enjoy!
The Grim Reaper is growing up. I think we can all remember what it was like to be back in grade school. I would bet anything that you knew guys just like him. Otherwise, not a whole lot to add. Enjoy!
For those of you worried I’m writing a story about a little boy, relax. He grows up. He’s also a relatively normal kid, completely unlike some of my other heroes.
Amusing note – When I was publishing this story I had never told my wife about my hobby of writing stories. For one thing, her tastes are more than a bit different than mine. In any case, whenever she asks me what I am typing at night, when watching television, I had always told her that I was writing the great American novel. Then she said, “Well, I hope you finish it soon, so I can stop working the night shift at Price Chopper!”
It was just too much for me. I turned to her and answered, “I have, and it’s published!”
She stared at me and went, “What?”
“I wrote a novel. People have paid hundreds of dollars to read it! It’s twice as long as War and Peace!” Then I gave her a raspberry for good measure. I offered to load a reader on her laptop and copy the file to her computer. It took her forever to finish, though, since she reads slower than a blind snail. She does like spending the money, though.
Enjoy!
